Mimetic Jesus

Let me not only imitate you

O foot washing Lord

who genuflects before me

O faithful friend

to the end and the end after that

O brother in flesh and spirit

who will not abandon me

Let me also desire what you desire

give me the heart that is your heart

let me love what you love

 

the servant mind and hand and muscle

who washes another’s worn out sole

the faithful companion

who walks beyond the end of the clear-cut path

the brother in arms

of brother or sister or stranger

who will not let go

will not let go

will not let go
