The Bread that Satisfies

Hungry, we cry for

bread, but more than

barley or wheat

or artisanal loaves,

beyond the chewing

and swallowing and

stomach satisfaction

it is the breaking

the placing in the hand

the community rising

from shared sustenance

like the magic of

yeast in the dough

that fills us up

satiates body, mind, and spirit

and makes us one

with earth, brother, sister,

self, and you, holy companion,

the giver of all to all for all in all.
